Leadership Transformative

Focus on the Wrong Things

January 01, 20251 min read

As leaders, our personal growth has a ripple effect on our organizations and beyond.
But as we embark on this journey we may focus on the wrong things.

We focus on the 'how' - the practical skills and strategies to manage teams and drive results.

Over time, I realized that true leadership goes far beyond these surface-level competencies.

The real power of leadership lies in understanding the 'WHY' behind our actions and decisions.

It's about deep diving into our motivations, values, and the core of who we are as individuals.

This self-awareness offers a transformative process, not just as leaders, but in every aspect of life.

Leading others holds up a mirror to our strengths and weaknesses.

We are called to confront our fears, acknowledge our biases, and work on our emotional intelligence.

This journey of self-discovery is humbling and, at times, uncomfortable, but it will lead to profound personal growth.

The top three leadership qualities we are gifted with when approaching leadership and as a vehicle for personal growth:

♦️Empathy:
Truly listening and understanding others' perspectives

♦️Resilience:
Bouncing back from failures and setbacks and learning lessons that make us better humans.

♦️uthenticity:
Being true to ourselves and our values, even in challenging situations.

These qualities have not only made me a better leader but a better friend, partner, and community member.

When we commit to becoming better humans, we create environments where others can thrive and grow.

This is the true essence of transformative leadership.
