Ever feel like you're watching a trainwreck in slow motion? That's what it's like when your team's decisions are veering off into la-la land. You're sitting there, biting your tongue, thinking, "For the love of all that is holy, how did we end up here?" 🤦♂️
Here's my "Decision Detox" plan to help you get the train back on track in 5 easy steps:
1. Paint the Big Picture (with crayons if necessary): Spell out what success looks like.
And I mean really spell it out. Paint a picture they can see in their minds.
2. Share Your Brain (not literally, please): Walk them through your thought process.
It's like a guided tour of your decision-making theme park.
Explain how you make decisions and what processes you’d use.
Remember, you’re coaching them, not telling them what or how to do it.
3. Real-Life Escape Room: Throw some actual scenarios at them.
It's like an escape room, but instead of escaping a room, they're escaping bad decisions. Much more useful in the long run.
4. Back to School: Sometimes, you gotta dust off that teacher hat.
Think of it as leadership summer school, minus the summer and the fun.
5. Be Their Decision-Making Yoda: Keep the support coming.
Guide them, you must.
Micromanage, you must not.
Turning your team into decision-making ninjas isn't about barking orders.
It's about training them to kick indecision's butt all on their own.
And if all else fails, there's always the trusty Magic 8 Ball. 🎱
